Take the Tung Chung Line from Hong Kong Station (connected to Central Station via pedestrian subway). Exit at Tung Chung and walk 2–4 minutes via Citygate Outlets or Tat Tung Road to reach the cable car terminal. Octopus cards are widely accepted.

From Hong Kong Island, E-series and Cityflyer buses (e.g., E11/E11A/E21) connect to Tung Chung. They are generally slower than the MTR but can be cheaper.

If the cable car is closed, take New Lantao Bus 23 from Tung Chung to Ngong Ping Village (about 49–50 minutes; typically first departure around 07:15, with slightly later starts on Sundays and public holidays).

Drive via Route 4 from Central, then Western Harbour Crossing, Route 3 toward Tsing Yi, and cross the Lantau Link (Tsing Ma Bridge) to Tung Chung.

Peak hours (weekday mornings, evenings, and weekend mornings) may slow traffic around Lantau Link and Tung Chung.

Note: Roads beyond Tung Chung toward Ngong Ping/Big Buddha are restricted. Private cars require a valid “Driving on Lantau Island” permit to access closed roads.

Parking facilities

Tung Chung Cable Car Terminal: Primarily coach and disabled parking. Limited disabled spaces are available on a first-come basis. Not intended for general visitor parking.

Citygate Outlets: Large 24-hour public car park located 2–4 minutes’ walk from the cable car terminal. Hourly charges apply and may vary.

Ngong Ping Village: Limited parking near the Big Buddha area. Generally accessible only to permit-holding vehicles and blue Lantau taxis.
